The first UK tour of the musical Mamma Mia! comes to Canterbury next month (July).

Set on a Greek island paradise, it is the story of family and friendship told through the timeless songs of ABBA. To date, it has been seen by more than 60 million people in 50 productions in 16 different languages. Mamma Mia! The Movie is the highest worldwide grossing live-action musical film of all time (and a sequel was recently announced).

From West End to global phenomenon, the London production of Mamma Mia! has now been seen by more than 10 per cent of the entire UK population. It is one of only five musicals to have run for more than 10 years both on Broadway and in the West End, and in 2011, it became the first Western musical ever to be staged in Mandarin in the People's Republic of China.

The cast includes Helen Hobson (Donna Sheridan), Gillian Hardie (Rosie), Emma Clifford (Tanya), Jon Boydon (Sam Carmichael), Jamie Hogarth (Harry Bright), Christopher Hollis (Bill Austin), Lucy May Barker (Sophie Sheridan), Phillip Ryan (Sky), Fia Houston-Hamilton (Ali), Blaise Colangelo (Lisa), Louis Stockil (Pepper), and Brad Veitch (Eddie).

Creator and Producer Judy Craymer said: "We are absolutely delighted to be bringing Mamma Mia! Canterbury for the first time with the UK Tour. Mamma Mia! is fun for all the family with its heart-warming story and the irresistible songs of ABBA. We can't wait to share the fun with Canterbury!"

Mamma Mia! is at The Marlowe Theatre from Tuesday 11 to Saturday 29 July at 7.30pm and 2.30pm (Tuesday 18 July, Thursdays and Saturdays). Tickets, priced from £30.25 to £60.75 (concessions available), are from the Box Office on 01227 787787 and marlowetheatre.com. See the website for details of the audio-described, British Sign Language-interpreted and captioned performances.
