Rossini's magical Cinderella bursts into London's Little Opera House just in time for Christmas, in a sparkling new version by Tony Britten.

Director Emma Rivlin gives the classic fairytale a fresh, modern twist in her witty new production in which Prince Ramiro falls for the one girl who is unimpressed by his wealth and glamour, despite the attempts of her nouveau-riche sisters to turn his head. Musical director Andrew Macmillan leads a thrilling young cast including Rowan Hellier (fresh from her success as Rosina in OperaUpClose's The Barber of Seville) and French mezzo Sylvie Bedouelle as Cinderella, with Christopher Diffey (Rodolfo in OperaUpClose's La Bohème) and Lawrence Olsworth Peter as Ramiro.

Emma Rivlin earned rave reviews for her production of Agrippina last year, and has directed for companies including ENO Baylis, Almeida Projects, GSMD and the RCM. Andrew Macmillan has
played for companies including ETO and Iford Arts, and has been music director for a number of new operas, including a groundbreaking adaptation of Les Contes d'Hoffmann (Arcola Theatre)
and Tarantula in Petrol Blue (Aldeburgh Music). OperaUpClose presents new, challenging and classic operas in intimate spaces using world-class singers and directors. Artistic directors Adam Spreadbury-Maher and Robin Norton-Hale are dedicated to bringing opera to life for new audiences, offering the extraordinary opportunity to experience the dramatic and musical event of opera up close. In October 2010, OperaUpClose transformed the King's Head Theatre into London's Little Opera House. Cinderella will be OperaUpClose's fourth production.
