Ten local Primary Schools have taken part in a Grand Theatre project which saw performance poet and comedienne Emma Purshouse deliver creative writing workshops in schools throughout the year. This inspired them to write short bedtime stories, some of which were published in a book and all of the entries are now on display at the Light House in Wolverhampton until the end of January.
The project, which launched in February 2018 culminated in a unveiling event which was attended by the schools involved along with their teachers and Emma Purshouse who read out a selection of stories.
30 stories have been published into a book which has been designed and printed by JPL Print & Design Ltd who were also in attendance alongside Promise Dreams who will receive the profits from the sales of the book as a donation to their charity.
The schools involved are Spingdale Primary School, Uplands Junior School, Newbridge Preparatory School, Woodfield Junior School, Fallings Park Primary School, Warstones Primary School, SS Peter and Paul Catholic Primary Academy & Nursery, Pinfold Street Primary, Priory Primary School and Rivers Primary Academy.
James Collins, Creative Learning Co-ordinator at the theatre said; "it was a fantastic day unveiling the hard work of the children all of whom came together to see their work on display. The work represents the entire community, with children of all different backgrounds joining as one to celebrate their achievement over the past year."
To visit the exhibition, see light-house.co.uk for opening times over the Christmas period.
The project was inspired by this year's spectacular pantomime SLEEPING BEAUTY which runs until Sunday 13 January 2019 - starring Debbie McGee, Richard Cadell & Sooty, Doreen Tipton, Ian Adams, Oliver Ormson, Bethan-Wyn Davies and Julie Paton.
