‘Fishing for Shadows'
by Wild Theatre all the way from New Zealand
‘Fishing for Shadows' is a theatre garden filled with puppets, automata, shadow puppets, marionettes, toy theatre, music and sound effects.
In this interactive, magical space inspired by the beaches and glaciers of Aotearoa/New Zealand, images are created from natural materials, driftwood, recycled wood and found objects. The audience is invited to bring the images to life themselves, and create their own journeys, characters and stories.
The Summer Party is a celebration and big thank-you to all the supporters, volunteers and audience members who make the work of this truly individual theatre possible. A huge amount of work is put in by local residents to make it possible by baking, decorating and volunteering on the day; our Friends are working even harder this year to ensure that this community event goes off with a bang.
This year we have a superb 'interactive theatre garden' performance in St Mary's Church Gardens called 'Fishing for Shadows' by Wild Theatre. Also there will be face-painting, puppet making workshops where you can make a puppet to take away with you, puppet demonstrations by professional puppeteers, a chance to meet the puppets. Also backstage tours of the entire theatre and workshop will run throughout the day!
This years theme is the Angel Bug Ball to go with our current show 'The Fabulous Flutterbys' so please come dressed up as an ugly bugly, beautiful butterfly or any creepy crawly you want! We will also be unveiling our new Green Wall project with Islington Council on the day!
Absolutely everyone is invited and entry is completely free. If you would like to get involved in anyway please contact the theatre on 020 7226 1787.
