Little Angel Theatre is producing three exciting and original new shows for autumn and winter 2012.

From 22 September – 4 November THE TEAR THIEF is a Little Angel production in association with the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester. Adapted from the book by Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy, THE TEAR THIEF will be directed by Little Angel’s Artistic Director, Peter Glanville. It is suitable for age 3 up. With music composed and performed live by James Hesford and puppeteered by Lowri James and Claire Harvey, this heart-warming tale of a magical world is perfectly brought to life by Little Angel’s stunning puppetry. Following performances at Little Angel (encompassing half term in October) THE TEAR THIEF will tour to The Egg (Bath), North Wall (Oxford), Lakeside Arts Centre (Nottingham) and the Royal Exchange Theatre (Manchester).

From 17 November 2012 to 27 January 2013 Little Angel for the first time adapts Carlo Collodi’s PINOCCHIO as its stunning Christmas show for ages 6 to adult. Created by master puppet maker and director Peter O’Rourke (ALICE IN WONDERLAND, THE GIRAFFE AND THE PELLY AND ME, THE MOUSE QUEEN), this action-packed production is conveyed by four multi-skilled puppeteers, actors and mask performers. Set in 19th century Tuscany it has a darkly witty script by Angela Miguel and evocative music by Pete Flood of Bellowhead.

Alongside PINOCCHIO is our Christmas show for younger children DOGS DON’T DO BALLET based on the popular book by Anna Kemp and Sara Ogilvie. The sublime and the ridiculous combine in this hilarious story of a small dog with a big personality who just wants to be a ballerina, brought to life using beautiful puppets, well-loved ballet music and dazzling comedy. The book has been adapted by David Duffy and Andrea Sadler; David Duffy directs, puppet design is by Keith Jury and set design by Tim Sykes. The show runs from 5 December 2012 to 27 January 2013 and is suitable for children aged 2-6.

BOOKING FOR ALL THREE SHOWS OPENS ON 28 AUGUST 2012.
