The Wild Night of the Witches
Little Angel Theatre opened it's doors in 1961 with a 35 minute long-string marionette performance of The Wild Night of the Witches. To celebrate our 50th anniversary we are refurbishing and reviving this production with a cast of trainee marionettists.
The two rival witches Mrs. Itchweed and Gerty MacNamara battle furiously over poisons and cough potions, while Mrs. Rushbridges and Miss Pinkney battle over Mr. Gimp! You can be sure, it all ends in a Wedding... Or...?
A rollicking marionette romp, with music and vocal soundtrack, plus some of the much loved variety turns.
This is an excellent opportunity to witness the first show ever performed at the Little Angel using long string marionettes and utilising the marionette bridge.
Directed by Ronnie Le Drew and Sarah Wright. Puppets carved by John Wright.
Dates and times: 9th - 11th Sept / Fri 7.30pm / Sat/Sun 2.30pm/7.30pm

Steve Tiplady, as Geppetto, uses the objects of a carpenter's workshop to tell the tale of the puppet that wants to be a real boy, and the puppet-maker who wants to be a real father. Pinocchio is carved on stage, brushes become a fox and the shadow of two saws transforms into a giant shark. An element of improvisation makes each performance unique. Puppetry, shadows, illusion and especially composed music combine to create a show with something for all ages.
