The Lawrence Batley Theatre is set to thrill Christmas audiences this December when it presents an exciting new adaptation by the highly acclaimed tutu fruity and York Theatre Royal of Aesop's much loved tale The Boy Who Cried Wolf.
The must-see Christmas treat, adapted for the stage by the award winning playwright Mike Kenny, will be taking up residence in Huddersfield from tonight 12 December to Sunday 28 December at various times throughout its run.
Winter is coming, the trees are bare, the birds fly south, and the sheep are flocking, seeking shelter from the wind. As the falling snow flurries wolf footprints can be seen padded into the hard ground.
But standing on the hill top a boy is watching his sheep. He is bored, seeking adventure, and looking for the next big thing! A boy tasked to keep his community safe but with a vivid imagination. A boy who makes up stories and craves the thrill of the unknown. A boy who, unthinkingly, unknowingly...cried WOLF!
Brought to you by the same team who created the LBT's last Christmas show, Rapunzel, Olivier award-winner Mike Kenny rewrites the popular wintery, well-loved Aesop fable about a boy who is unable to find delight in what is around him and instead seeks adventure, excitement and the thrill of the unknown. Featuring songs, hilarious sheep and perhaps a scary wolf or two, The Boy Who Cried Wolf is set to be the perfect treat for all the family this Christmas.
Mike Kenny is one of England's leading writers, specialising in young people's theatre. His plays are performed regularly throughout the UK and all over the world. His recent works include the Olivier award winning play The Railway Children and the critically acclaimed Blood + Chocolate.
