Hello, Jerry! A Musical Revue Celebrating Jerry Herman
So long, Dolly! Move over, Mame! Make way for the biggest star of Broadway...
Jerry Herman.
Hello, Jerry! is a salute to the musical genius of Broadway composer and lyricist ,
Jerry Herman. This brand new revue show, devised by director Thom Southerland, charts the greatest of Herman's songs, from the sensationally popular Hello, Dolly! to the lesser known songs of Miss Spectacular and Dear World. Musical aficionados shouldn't miss this homage to one of Broadway's greatest composers. Directed and devised by Thom Southerland (Best Director Winner in the Off West End Awards), what better way to celebrate the work of
Jerry Herman, than in Clapham's intimate
Landor Theatre.
Jerry Herman (born July 10, 1931) composed the scores for the hit Broadway musicals Hello, Dolly!, Mame, and La Cage aux Folles, to name a few. He has been nominated for the Tony Award five times, and won twice, for Hello, Dolly! and La Cage aux Folles. The original production of Hello, Dolly! scooped 10 Tony awards, a record that remained unbeaten until
Mel Brook's The Producers earned 12 in 2001. La Cage aux Folles won the Tony Award for Best Musical (1983), is the only musical to win the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical twice (2004 & 2010), and therefore is the only show to win a Best Musical award for every staged Broadway production. In 2009, Herman received the Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre. He is a recipient of the 2010 Kennedy Center Honors.
