West End star Julie Atherton will be joined by close friend and former S Club 7 band member Jon Lee on Friday 8 October 2010 at Manchester's prestigious Band on the Wall. Lee will sing a duet with Atherton from Jason Robert Brown's The Last 5 Years, a musical in which she has previously starred twice in London's West End. Having met when Lee was starring in the popular musical Les Misérables, the pair have been friends ever since. The evening will showcase Julie's eagerly anticipated second album No Space for Air with her first ever Northern solo engagement. The Preston born musical theatre star will appear at Manchester's prestigious Band on the Wall for one night only on Friday 8 October 2010.

No Space for Air will feature songs from the new album performed in a uniquely intimate setting, offering Northern based fans the first live opportunity to hear this lauded leading lady cast her genre-defying interpretations on a range of classic tracks and brand new songs penned specially for her voice. The album will also be available for purchase on the night. Fusing an innate theatrical sensibility with a ravishingly raw, angst rock vibe, No Space for Air is a unique and groundbreaking album for the Spring Awakening and Lady Gaga generation. Julie's musical influences range from Alanis Morrissette and Skunk Anansie to legendary musical theatre composer Stephen Sondheim, leading to a wonderfully eclectic and personal selection of material.

Julie Atherton is one of the North West's most prolific and successful young musical theatre stars currently working in the West End, having played the lead roles of Sophie in the smash hit musical Mamma Mia!, Serena in the everlasting Fame and Cathy in Jason Robert Brown's The Last 5 Years. Best known for originating the roles of Kate Monster and Lucy The Slut in the popular puppet musical Avenue Q, she is also an experienced concert artist, having headlined numerous musical engagements at venues as diverse as the Donmar Warehouse and the Royal Albert Hall.

Julie's debut album A Girl of Few Words is one of the bestselling musical theatre releases of recent years, and the most downloaded album recorded by any West End musical theatre star. No Space for Air builds on her already established reputation as a recording artist. Her other recording credits include the original cast recordings of A Spoonful of Stiles & Drewe, Christmas in New York and Just So.

Julie Atherton: No Space for Air is produced by Neil Eckersley and Paul Spicer for Speckulation Entertainment, with musical direction by Craig Adams. The album was released on Monday 7 June 2010.
