Interactive Gaming Expo Set to Take to the Stage this Easter at The Bristol Hippodrome Image

The Bristol Hippodrome has today announced that the theatre will be transforming into an interactive gaming hub this Easter. Whether you are a casual or professional gamer, a developer or just a fan, The Bristol Hippodrome's first ever gaming convention, 'Relive, Reload, Replay', promises to have something for everyone.

There will be a range of traditional electronic and non-electronic gaming experiences that will appeal to all ages. Each session will offer gamers the chance to access all areas and play games both on and offstage. With eight zones and more than 100 machines, consoles, high-end PCs and games for 1 and 2+ players, the event is expected to draw in a large and diverse audience.

Jenny Hutchinson, Theatre Director at The Bristol Hippodrome, says, "Both live theatre and gaming are art forms and play a huge part in our creative sector. Gaming is continuing to influence other forms of art, including our popular Murder Mystery evenings where people become actively involved in the game. What's more, the global games audience is now estimated to be between 2.2 and 2.6bn people, and this opens up the possibility of generating a whole new audience for theatre, and vice versa.

"The interactive expo is an exciting and innovative way of bringing people together to share their love of gaming at one of Bristol's most iconic venues. If you ever wanted to play against your friends on the Hippodrome's stage, now is your chance. It is set to be an unforgettable experience."

Andy Brown, Managing Director at Replay Events said, "We're really excited to be working with the Hippodrome and bringing our slice of retro gaming heaven to Bristol. The South-West has been lacking a classic gaming event for too long and we're looking forward to changing that this Easter with our nostalgia loaded show!"

Zones include:

  • Retro Zone covers the past 40 years in gaming, featuring a host of consoles and computers including Sinclair, Commodore, Nintendo, Sega, Sony and Xbox
  • Virtual Reality games will be available including Battlezone, Eagle Flight, VR World and Drive Club VR
  • Minecraft will be running a Hunger Games map where players will have to survive the harsh landscape
  • Music, dance and rhythm action games from across the world
  • Next Gen Gaming offers cutting edge games for the latest powerhouse machines, with a selection of the latest AAA games from the PS4 and Xbox One
  • For PC fans there will be high spec PCs running the latest and greatest independently produced multiplayer games
