Indian Fables Reimagined In Family Show THREE SAT UNDER THE BANYAN TREE At The Belgrade Image

A series of classic fables from the Indian literary tradition are set to be reimagined in an enchanting family production coming to the Belgrade Theatre this October.

Running for two days on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 October, Three Sat Under the Banyan Tree brings stories from The Panchatantra to the stage for the very first time in expert retellings by playwright Shamser Sinha.

Described as "India's Aesop's Fables", The Panchatantra is the most frequently translated work of Indian literature, exploring the question of what it means to live a good life through extraordinary tales featuring a fabulous array of animal characters.

In this delightful new show from Tara Arts and Polka Theatre, a multi-talented cast of three bring these much-loved stories vividly to life. How can three ignorant princes learn to rule wisely? How did a crow, a mouse, a turtle and a deer become inseparable friends? And how did the jackal fool the lion?

This October, audiences are invited to discover the answers to all of these questions and more in a charming half-term treat, ideal for kids aged 7+.

Directed by the acclaimed Jatinder Verma (The Game of Love and Chai) and designed by Claudia Mayer, Three Sat Under the Banyan Tree combines the Tara Arts' distinctive blend of Eastern and Western influences with Polka Theatre's experience in creating engaging, world-class theatre for children.

Three Sat Under the Banyan Tree comes to the Belgrade Theatre on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 October. Tickets are available to book now by calling the box office on 024 7655 3055, or visiting www.belgrade.co.uk where prices are even cheaper.
