This summer twelve actors and musicians will transform The Savill Garden in Windsor Great Park, Britain's finest ornamental garden into a world of warring ethereal kings, queens and star-crossed lovers, for an immersive theatre version of Shakespeare's much loved comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream, running from 24 June - 19 July 2015.
Exclusive access has been granted for audience members to weave their way through an array of hidden gardens and spectacular lawns before, during and after the performances. From 6.30pm, Master of Ceremonies, Puck and his musical troupe will lead you on an enchanted journey through the beautiful orchard.
Set in a mystical forest, Shakespeare's comedy unravels as wedding bells toll and Duke Theseus and Hippolyta prepare for their nuptials. A story of transformation, a woodland quarrel brews between a quartet of young Athenian lovers and audacious amateur actors are soon led astray by the fairies who rule the land.
Striking costume pieces, a truly remarkable setting and strong emphasis on movement and music will enhance the flamboyant atmosphere in this immersive recreation of a Shakespearean classic.
Attracting nearly 3000 visitors a day in the height of the season, the Windsor Great Park will celebrate the best of the British summertime with specially crafted hampers available to purchase; special permission has been granted for them to be enjoyed within the garden whilst making the most of the set's natural habitat. Audiences can explore the exquisite 'fairy garden' during the interval before the much-anticipated musical finale.
