Hoxton Hall is delighted to announce its first ever panto, with its very own East End twist. Hoxton Hall presents SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS, directed by Karena Johnson, running 14th - 24th December 2015.

From the icy pavements of Hoxton Street to the magic of the Enchanted Forest, embark on a thrilling adventure complete with a wicked queen, handsome prince, seven helpful dwarves, a poison apple and a very opinionated mirror. A high (very high) light of the show will be aerialist Will Davis as the Forest Fairy, gliding through the air on silks. Expect lots of laughs, sing-along songs and plenty to boo, hiss and cheer about in this treat of a show suitable for children (aged 4+) and adults alike.

SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS marks the end of Hoxton Hall's first new season since its £2million restoration. Aiming to cement itself as a centrepoint for variety performance in East London, Hoxton Hall's eclectic programme concludes 2015 with traditional festive entertainment for the whole family.

Hoxton Hall Artistic Director Karena Johnson said "Pantomime has its roots in the variety and music halls of Britain so it is fitting that we bring this national institution back to Hoxton Hall. This production allows us to bring the participatory and professional performance programs together in a production made for the communities of Hoxton. Our pantomime uses the new technical capabilities of our newly restored unique building including contemporary circus performance and also gives a young actor from our very own acting agency Hoxton Street Management an opportunity. I am really excited to end our reopening season with a traditional pantomime with a contemporary east end flavour."

Sarah Bakker, who has toured worldwide and performed on Broadway, takes on the role of Snow White. Since making her stage debut as Young Cosette in Les Miserables in her native Australia, she has performed in the Australian tours of Chicago and Mary Poppins. She understudied for the role of Christine in The Phantom of the Opera as well as Mary Poppins on Broadway. She has performed at venues including Theatre Royal Bath and Royal Albert Hall. She is joined by London-based, Welsh actress Catherine Morris as Queen Morgiana. Catherine has toured the UK with The Rise and Fall of Little Voice (2014) and the National Theatre's One Man, Two Guvnors (2013).

Aerialist Will Davis specialises in rope, silks and aerial hoop. Will has performed across the UK, Europe and Australia. He is based in London and teaches aerial at The National Centre for Circus Arts and at Gravity Circus Centre. In 2014 Will's aerial act was also the winner of the nationwide circus competition Circus Maximus.

The professional cast will be joined by children and young people from the local community, who take on a variety of speaking and ensemble roles.

Snow White will be directed by Artistic Director and CEO of Hoxton Hall Karena Johnson. Karena has worked for 17 years as a theatre director, producer and advocate of emerging artists. Her pioneering career includes being the first Black woman to run a London venue when she became Artistic Director of The Broadway in Barking. She has also been Director of Loud Talkin', Acting Artistic Director of Contact Theatre in Manchester, Artistic Director of touring theatre company Kushite and spent five years as Head of Theatre Programming at Oval House theatre. She has also been an Associate at Theatre Royal Stratford East and Nottingham Playhouse. Karena's work has been recognised by with a TMA special award nomination for "theatre with cojones" for her Spin season at The Broadway an artistic response to the election (both the national context and local race between Labour and the official opposition the BNP) in 2010.

Hoxton Hall has been pioneering East London creative activity since 1863 and is one of the last surviving saloon style Victorian Music Halls. In the Music Hall era Shoreditch boasted more than ten Music Halls and although only two remain in East London, the area is once again a hot bed of creativity and young talent. The venue closed for refurbishment in 2013 after its 150th anniversary celebration season and reopened in summer 2015. Find out more at www.hoxtonhall.co.uk.
