After a successful 4 week run in the Park Theatre London, Hot Coals Theatre Ensemble are hitting the Brighton Fringe with Storm in a Teacup, a play inspired by Chekhov's Three Sisters, directed by Alice Robinson.

When words have lost their place, physical comedy, walking sticks and false teeth come to life. This darkly comic and cartoon-like piece is a window into the quirky and tender world of three 80 years old sisters as they fight the system to keep their independence.

Hot Coals have created a moving and relevant piece, tackling head on the issues which will affect us all in our old age. As young performers playing women in their dotage they approach the material with sensitivity and a playful humour, inviting us to laugh both at themselves and ourselves whatever our age. Storm in a Teacup raises the issues of how we care for the elderly and asks important questions, whilst reminding us these three sisters are individuals with their own ideas and iron strength.

Hot Coals was founded in 2012 by alumni of RADA's MA Theatre Lab. The ensemble is committed to create bold, visual and enthralling new work through devising. Core members of Hot Coals include Clare-Louise English, Margot Courtemanche, Jo Sargeant and associate director Alice Robinson.

Storm in a Teacup will run at The Marlborough Theatre on Saturday 3rd May at 4:30pm, Sunday 4th May at 4:30pm and 9pm, and Monday 5th May at 4.30pm. For tickets, call the box office at 01273 917272.
