This spring the city of Birmingham will be sprinkled with the grandeur of old-time Hollywood and the swinging songs of Cole Porter as this brand-new production of High Society arrives at Birmingham Hippodrome from Tuesday 14 - Saturday 18 May 2013.

The glittering production stars Michael Praed (Robin of Sherwood) as Dexter Haven, Sophie Bould as Tracy Lord (The Sound of Music), and Daniel Boys (BBC's Any Dream Will Do) as Mike Connor.

Shropshire born Sophie Bould said: "I'm a Midlands girl, so I'll be relatively close to my family whilst I'm in Birmingham so that will be a treat. I've never performed at Birmingham Hippodrome before, but have heard wonderful things, and I'm really looking forward to my Hippodrome debut!"

Adapted from the hit 1956 film starring Bing Crosby (Dexter Haven), Frank Sinatra (Mike Connor) and Grace Kelly (Tracy Lord) High Society fizzes with a host of beautiful Cole Porter ballads including 'True Love', 'You're Sensational' and the unforgettable 'Did You Evah!'. The original film was Grace Kelly's last film role before she became Princess Grace of Monaco.

Wealthy socialite Tracy Lord is in the midst of planning a lavish summer wedding when her ex-husband Dexter Haven turns up to disrupt the proceedings in an attempt to win her back. A further twist arrives in the form of the charming reporter Mike Connor who falls instantly for Tracy, and she for him. As the day of the wedding draws closer, which groom will the bride choose?

This new production is directed by Anna Linstrum, set and costume by Francis O' Connor, lighting by Chris Davey, sound design by Ben Harrison and musical director is Michael Haslam. Choreography is by Andrew Wright.
