Grand Theatre Reveal 'Giant' Community Project ImageToday, Wolverhampton Grand Theatre revealed a towering new resident for the festive season in the shape of a 15ft Giant, made by over 20 individual groups from the local community.

The giant and a brimming beanstalk are the result of four months work from over 400 participants. The project has taken over two floors of the stalls and dress circle staircase for the duration of this years pantomime JACK AND THE BEANSTALK until 14 January.

Participants were involved in a series of free workshops delivered by the Grand Theatre and Heath House Studios. In the sessions they embroidered, sewed, glued and weaved to create the giant's clothes, beanstalk leaves and a collection of creepie-crawlies!

Creative Learning Co-Ordinator at the Grand Theatre, James Collins said; "I am absolutely thrilled with the result of the project. Its success is due to the fantastic work put in by our participating groups. As a theatre, we are constantly reaching out to engage with as many members of the local community and to see their work come together in the way it has is something I am extremely proud of."

This project has been made possible by support from local trusts and charitable foundations as well as the generous donations made by our audiences and the public to the Creative Learning fund.

If you're visiting the pantomime, make sure to stop by the giant, grab a selfie and hashtag #StandingTall!
