Grand Theatre Refurbishment Begins This Summer

This summer, Wolverhampton Grand Theatre will undergo its biggest refurbishment to date, including a complete renovation of the Front of House areas on all three levels of the building. The renovations will see the introduction of five exclusive booths on the dress circle level and two rooms that will be relaxing suites for audiences to enjoy before shows and during the intervals.

Excitingly, the Grand Theatre is opening up the chance for the public to play their part in the refurbishment by submitting suggestions for the names of the booths on the dress circle level and two suites - one in the dress circle and the other in the grand circle.

The names given to the booths and suites should be appropriate to the world of theatre, such as the names of significant performers, shows, songs... anything theatrical!

Submissions will be taken via the Grand Theatre website here: http://www.grandtheatre.co.uk/Suggestions.aspx or by clicking on the "vote" tab in the top navigation bar.

The public are asked to submit a suggestion for the name of one suite and one booth via the website until Sunday 8 May. A shortlist will be drawn and voting will then open on the Grand Theatre website on Monday 16 May until Sunday 29 May.

The winning names will be revealed in June and sign makers will begin making the plaques to be installed during the summer renovation work.

The refurbishment will commence in July in the week following the final performance of GUYS AND DOLLS and will be completed after seven weeks in time for a spectacular re-opening gala night on Saturday 10th September.

Those who submitted winning names will be invited as guests to the re-opening gala which will be hosted by Angela Rippon with Musical Direction by Grand Theatre Chief Executive, Adrian Jackson who will lead the City Concert Orchestra.
