Grand Theatre Celebrates 122nd Birthday with ALADDIN Panto Cast!

Today, Saturday 10th December, Wolverhampton Grand Theatre celebrated its 122nd birthday with the cast of ALADDIN, including Joe McElderry, Lisa Riley and CBeebies' Mr Bloom - Ben Faulks.

In its 122-year history the Grand Theatre has hosted every imaginable pantomime, the first being Sinbad The Sailor, which opened on Christmas Eve 1894 - just two weeks after the theatre initially opened. Since then, the theatre has hosted a wealth of star names including John Inman, Don Maclean, Sinitta, Linda Lusardi, The Grumbleweeds, The Krankies, Su Pollard, Frank Bruno, Christopher Biggins, Paul Zerdin, Joe Pasquale and his son Joe Tracini, Julian Clary and the Chuckle Brothers - and not forgetting real live lions in a production ofRobinson Crusoe!

This year's production of ALADDIN stars Joe McElderry as Aladdin and Lisa Riley as Scheherazade the Slave Of The Ring. CBeebies 'Mr Bloom' - Ben Faulks plays the Policeman, Britain's Got Talent finalist soprano Lucy Kay is Princess Jasmine, Black Country internet sensation Doreen is the Lazy Empress Of China, Ian Adamsplays Widow Twankey, Adam C Booth is Wishee Washee and Neal Wright is the Genie Of The Lamp.

Completing the cast are Freddie Clements, Gabrielle Cocca, Azaria Jeneway, Travis Kerry, Daniella Ockerby, Ollie Ramsdale, Christopher Ribz-Gordon, Katrina Ridley and the Classic Academy of Dance.

ALADDIN, is now open at the Grand Theatre and runs until Sunday 22 January 2017. Tickets are already on sale and can be booked in person, by phone on 01902 42 92 12 or online at grandtheatre.co.uk.
