Graeae Theatre Company will be performing the critically-acclaimed And Others on Tuesday 16 April 2019 as part of the Rose Bruford College annual Symposium. Proceeds from ticket sales and audience collections will be donated to Graeae's Ensemble Programme, which trains a new generation of D/deaf and disabled theatre makers.
Directed by Graeae Artistic Director, and Rose Bruford College Fellow, Jenny Sealey, And Others brings to life the voices of women who fought for suffrage but whose stories have been lost to history. Woven together with the voices of D/deaf and disabled women living today, it celebrates the achievements of the past while being a rallying call to action to fight for a better tomorrow.
Performed by an all-female cast and curated by award-nominated writer Chloe Todd-Fordham, Stewart Pringle and Dr Susan Croft, And Others was developed in collaboration with the National Theatre to mark the 100th anniversary in 2018 of some women gaining the right to vote.
Rose Bruford College Principal Clarie Middleton said:
"We are delighted to welcome Graeae to Rose Bruford College. They are a force for change in world-class theatre, breaking down barriers and boldy placing D/deaf and disabled artists centre stage."
The College's annual Symposium is a unique three-day festival of events, music, performance, exhibitions and workshops that celebrates the creative practice and research of the College's students and staff alongside that of key external artists and academics.
And Others will be performed in The Rose Theatre, Sidcup at 4pm and 7.30pm on Tuesday 16 April followed by a post-show discussion. Tickets cost from £3 to £5 with complimentary tickets available for organisation group bookings.
