Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre Trust, the charity which operates the UK's most popular theatre, today confirmed two new Trustee appointments. One of the UK's leading architects, Glenn Howells, and the Chief Executive of the innovative games creator SEGA, Mike Hayes, join the Board as non-executive directors.
Howells and Hayes will further strengthen the Board of Birmingham Hippodrome which is chaired by John Crabtree OBE. Glenn Howells, who leads one of the most successful and respected architectural practices and is based in Birmingham, will bring not only his passion and knowledge of the city but his expertise on regeneration; Midlands-based Mike Hayes, who leads one of the world's highest profile creators of computer games, will bring his knowledge of new technology to the skillset of the current Board.
Commenting on the new appointments, Chair of Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre Trust John Crabtree OBE said: "I am thrilled to welcome both Glenn and Mike to our Board. Their insight, experience and enthusiasm will make an important contribution to the implementation of our vision.
"Working closely with our Chief Executive Stuart Griffiths, we intend to ensure that Birmingham Hippodrome grows its position as a major cultural enterprise with vibrant international links. The theatre is fortunate in that it can boast a Board made up of a diverse set of talented and committed people, and to add Glenn and Mike is very positive news indeed."
Glenn Howells said of his appointment: "I am delighted to be joining the Board of the Hippodrome. Not only is this theatre one of the most ambitious and successful in the UK, but it is a vital component for the future regeneration of Birmingham. I am focused on how we can maximise this potential."
For Mike Hayes, joining the Board of the Hippodrome is a very exciting prospect: "It is an honour to be joining the Hippodrome Theatre Trust Board. It is an exciting prospect to be able to work with the first class team at the Hippodrome and to make a contribution to the on- going and outstanding success that has been achieved by Stuart Griffiths, his staff and all the supporters of the theatre."
