With every new year comes a new set of resolutions. It's give up this, lose that, let this go, get that out of our lives. But what about bringing something in, taking something on or adding to the richness of our lives. Well this year The Voice Studio has something up its sleeve you may never have imagined you'd invite into your life. An evening course in musical theatre. With no previous experience necessary you can start to learn the craft of singing, acting and dancing. If you've always dreamed of giving it a go in a West End musical just once, well now you can have a taste of just that. For one evening a week you can sing, act and dance your way through big production numbers from famous musicals such as 'Phantom of the Opera', 'Chicago' and 'Wicked' all under the direction of an experienced West End professional. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join in the fun as you learn new skills, make new friends and bring something completely new and alive into your life!
The course is led in Central London by Gary Albert Hughes who is most popularly known for his work on TV and in musicals. Last year he was a singing presenter for E4'hit reality dating show 'Playing It Straight'. His role was covered by OK! Magazine accompanied by a three-page photo shoot with 'Beverly Hills 90210' actress and pop star Jessica Lowndes. Gary trained at The Purcell School of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal Academy of Music. His career has seen him perform at The Royal Albert Hall alongside West End star Kerry Ellis in her rock concert with Brian May, Judi Dench at Sondheim's 80th Birthday Prom as well as numerous TV and Radio appearances.
On the Six Week Introduction to Musical Theatre Course Gary says "a course in singing, acting and dancing is nothing new. But The Voice Studio's approach is. We are a small, personal and bespoke service who are genuinely concerned with offering people a life enhancing experience." Gary has been leading musical theatre courses, workshops and singing lessons alongside his colourful performing career for eight years. "I absolutely love my job, but now feel it's the right time to break out on my own to offer people an experience unrestrained by the chains that working for a big business puts on you."
Previous workshop participant 39 year old
Lisa Robinson says "joining one of The Voice Studio's workshops was the best thing I did in 2013. I never knew how much I'd love performing. I am no
Maria Callas, but I thoroughly enjoy trying to be and do not intend on giving up now!" 29 year old
Henry Wilson says "...my partner surprised me to a course as a birthday present and at first I couldn't think of anything worse. I have two left feet and a voice like sand paper. None of that seemed to matter to The Voice Studio and I loved every second of it."
