Full Cast Announced for UK Regional Premiere of April De Angelis' JUMPY

Theatr Clwyd Artistic Director Tamara Harvey today announces full casting for the regional première of the hit Royal Court and West End comedy Jumpy by April De Angelis. Sara Stewart leads the company in the role of Hilary and is joined by Ciara Baxendale (Lyndsey), Charlotte Beaumont (Tilly), Steven Elliot (Roland), Laurie Kynaston (Josh), Charlotte Moore (Bea), Kerry Peers (Frances), Laurence Ubong Williams (Cam) and Philip Wright (Mark).

Well, that's the thing, with children you can't take them back and exchange them.

Hilary is 50 and life is passing her by. Her job is under threat, her marriage is sustained only by habit and, worst of all, her 15 year old daughter Tilly is breaking all the rules and driving her mother frantic.

Jumpy is a comedy of a mid-life crisis, teenage rebellion and mother-daughter relationship in meltdown.

April De Angelis' work includes After Electra (Plymouth Theatre Royal and Tricycle Theatre), Jumpy (Royal Court and Duke of York's), Catch (a collaboration with four other female playwrights) and Wild East (Royal Court), A Gloriously Mucky Business (Lyric Hammersmith), Calais (Paines Plough/Oran Mor), Country (Terror Season, Southwark Playhouse), an adaptation of Wuthering Heights (Birmingham Rep Theatre), A Laughing Matter (Out of Joint Theatre Company, National Theatre), The Warwickshire Testimony (RSC, The Other Place), The Positive Hour (Out of Joint Theatre/National Tour) and Playhouse Creatures (Sphinx Theatre Company, later revived by The Old Vic Theatre).

Sara Stewart plays Hilary. Her many theatre credits include Dinner With Friends (Park Theatre), The Snow Queen (Rose Theatre Kingston), Enron (West End and Tour), Six Degree of Separation (Old Vic), The Hour We Knew Nothing of Each Other (National Theatre), The Pain and the Itch and Etta Jenks (Royal Court), Proof (Donmar Warehouse), A Month in The Country and Troilus and Cressida (RSC), Outcry (Cheek By Jowl), Heartbreak House (Chichester Festival), Sly Fox, Lady Windermere's Fan, Dear Brutus and While the Sun Shines (Pitlochry Festival Theatre). Her television credits include, Dr Foster, Quirke, Fresh Meat, Rebus, NCS Manhunt, Crocodile Shoes, and Drop the Dead Donkey.

Ciara Baxendale plays Lyndsey, her recent theatre credits include Icarus in Stratford (St James' Theatre) and The Nine O' Clock Service (Theatre503). For television she is best known for playing Izzy in My Mad Fat Diary. Other television credits include Harriet's Army, The Driver and James Horrocks' Little Crackers.

Charlotte Beaumont plays Tilly. Her recent theatre credits include 3 Winters (National Theatre), Love Your Soldiers (Sheffield Crucible), Playhouse Creatures (Chichester Festival Theatre), Blue Heaven (Finborough Theatre), The Flooded Grave and 2,000 Feet Away (Bush Theatre). Her television credits include Broadchurch, Obsession, Waterloo Road, Tommy Cooper: Not Like That, Like This, Coming Up: Sink or Swim, and Skins. For film, her credits include The Windmill, Butterfly Kisses, Balcony, Jupiter Ascending, Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll and 6 Bullets.

Steven Elliot is an Associate Artist at Theatr Clwyd and is returning to play Roland. His credits at Theatr Clwyd include Macbeth, Two Princes, A Chorus of Disapproval, Arcadia, Troilus and Cressida, Measure for Measure, The Suicide and Noises. Recently Steven has returned from Australia where he performed an adaptation of Adventures in the Skin Trade at Sydney Opera House and Melbourne Arts Centre. Other theatre credits include: The Winters Tale (Royal National Theatre), Titus Andronicus, Julius Caesar, Revenger's Tragedy, Henry V, Twelfth Night, The Bite of the Night, The Jew of Malta, Measure for Measure (Royal Shakespeare Company), King Lear (Alemeida, London), Educating Rita (Oldham Coliseum), Dumb Show, Inherit the Wind (New Vic), Amadeus, Hamlet, And Then There Were None (Salisbury Playhouse). Television includes Da Vinci's Demons, Crash, Tunnel of Love, and That Uncertain Feeling. Film credits include Hamlet, Cold Earth, Rise of the Appliances, Trauma, Trail of Crimson, De Sade, Green Monkey and Time Bandits.

Laurie Kynaston returns to Theatr Clwyd, after making his acting debut here in The Winslow Boy, to play Josh. His other theatre credits include Resurgam: One Night in Chelsea and This Smudge Won't Budge (St. James Theatre). His TV work includes Cradle to Grave, Murder Games: The Life and Death of Breck Bednar and Our World War. Film credits include Gutterdammerung, Gloves Off and They Found Hell.

Charlotte Moore plays Bea. Her recent theatre credits include The Audience with Helen Mirren (Gielgud Theatre), The Match (Company of Angels), Rain Man (Frankfurt English Theatre), Joking Apart, Knickerbocker Glories (Union Theatre), Carousel, (Landor Theatre), The Sleepers Den, Found In the Ground (Riverside Studios), Farewell Transmission (Theatre503), Birthday Suite, See How They Run (UK Tour), Boeing! Boeing! (Comedy Theatre, West End), Human Remains (Canal Café), Troilus and Cressida (EIF/RSC), Blackbird (Albery Theatre, West End) And Then There Were None (Gielgud Theatre, West End), Marilyn Case 81128 (Jermyn Street Theatre), Marilyn The Musical (Greenwich Theatre), The Windmill, The Wild Party, Rocketman, Cabaret and Pippin for Union Theatre. Kerry Peers returns to Theatr Clwyd to play Frances. Her theatre credits for Theatr Clwyd include A Streetcar Named Desire and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Phillip Wright plays Mark. His recent theatre credits include Ugly Duck (Claybody Theatre), The Knotty, The Tempest, Macbeth, The Norman Conquests, Dangerous Corner, Plough and the Stars, Eric the Epic, all for New Vic, Stoke; Twelfth Night, The Gambler and The Threepenny Opera for London Bubble, Privates on Parade and Death of a Salesman for Birmingham Rep and Made in Bangkok and As You Like It for Coventry Belgrade. Laurence Ubong Williams recently graduated from Oxford School of Drama and his recent theatre credits include A Winter's Tale (Orange Tree Theatre). For television his credits include Humans and Doctors.

Lisa Spirling is the Artistic Coordinator of the JMK Trust Regional Director's Program and a founder of Buckle for Dust Theatre Company.
