'Friends Of The Grand' Welcomes New Chairman

Wolverhampton Grand Theatre's membership scheme, the Friends Of The Grand welcomes a new chairman, former Friends Treasurer, Richard Bourne following a successful 12 year's service from Gordon Hands, who will remain on the committee.

Upon accepting his new position Richard was keen to share his pride in taking on the new role and also to lay out his personal vision for the future.

"Whilst Friends Of The Grand receive regular benefits including special events and discounted tickets, it has always been about supporting the theatre.

The 'Friends' organisation has always been close to my heart and now to be appointed as Chair is a most humbling experience and one that I am extremely proud of.

I am always keen to promote the many benefits on offer to both existing and new members in order to help increase membership numbers, but the big message for me is the patronage of the theatre. Our strong membership base will help the theatre continue to thrive.

The £1.2m refurb in 2016, which has been so widely welcomed, is something we intend to build on. During my tenure as Treasurer I was very keen to support infrastructure projects at the theatre. I intend to concentrate our forthcoming funding initiatives on growing the production investment ambitions. We will support our hard working and creative Artistic Director and Chief Executive, Adrian Jackson and his team as he and they continue to attract bigger and more ambitious productions to the theatre.

So my appeal to all Grand Theatre-goers is a simple one. Please join us if you haven't already done so and if you already have, then please continue with us by renewing your membership year on year.
