Free Radio's Sparky to Become Pantomime Star in Wolverhampton Grand Theatre's ALADDIN

Today it was announced that Free Radio's breakfast presenter Sparky will make an appearance in Wolverhampton Grand Theatre's pantomime, Aladdin on Thursday 5 January 2017.

Sparky, part of the popular Free Radio breakfast presenting duo Jo and Sparky is a regular at the Grand Theatre and has always dreamed of treading the boards. Now the Genie of the Lamp has granted his wish and Sparky will step out in front of 1,200 panto-goers in the new year.

Andy Price, Marketing Director at Free Radio said: "We're delighted to be partners of this year's pantomime at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre. Going to the theatre with the family is a big part of the Christmas period and something we know our listeners love".

Sparky said: "I can't wait! I'm glad that I final get the chance to put my GCSE in Performing Arts to good use!"

Wolverhampton's spectacular pantomime stars Joe McElderry as Aladdin and Lisa Riley as Slave Of The Ring. Also starring is CBeebies 'Mr Bloom' - Ben Faulks who will play the Policeman, Britain's Got Talent finalist soprano Lucy Kay as Princess Jasmine, Black Country internet sensation Doreen as the Lazy Empress Of China, Ian Adams as Widow Twankey, Adam C Booth as Wishee Washee and Neal Wright as the Genie Of The Lamp.

Produced by Qdos Entertainment, ALADDIN opens at the Grand Theatre on Saturday 10 Dec 2016 and runs until Sunday 22 January 2017. This year, Dudley Zoological Gardens are the local partner for ALADDIN. The Grand Theatre pantomime attracts thousands of families to Wolverhampton each year, similarly in Dudley; families are drawn to a collection of the world's rarest animals who find their home in the grounds of an 11th Century castle at Dudley Zoological Gardens.
