For Short. Theatre Company has announced the first London production of Elihu Winer's revolutionary play, Anatomy of a Murder. This gripping court room drama is to be performed in a sight-specific courthouse venue in Blackfriars. Performances will run from today 3rd-29th June.
Paul Biegler isn't looking forward to becoming a defence attorney but his first case is sensational: a Lieutenant is accused of murdering the bartender who allegedly raped his wife. It's a high-stakes battle of wit and determination as Biegler uses every device to save the officer's neck.
Initially released as a novel by Michigan Supreme Court Justice John D.Voelker under the pseudonym Robert Traver, Anatomy of a Murder was turned in to a critically acclaimed film starring James Stewart in 1959. An intense trial-based play, it is ideally suited to For Short.'s uniquely up-close style of performance.
