The Landor Theatre has announced its third and final week of artists for 'A Spotlight On... The Landor Theatre West End Cabaret Season 2012'. These are… Kieran Brown, David Alder, Beverley Klein, LeAnne Jones, Lucy May Barker and the season finale will be Clive Rowe.
Andrew Keates & Theatrica Ltd for The Landor Theatre are seeing in the New Year with the first anniversary of their exciting cabaret season, ?A Spotlight On...? - a series of one night only performances from leading West End and Broadway musical theatre artists. Eighteen artists will be appearing over the three week run in January, those already announced include Natasha Barnes, Andrew Derbyshire, Tim Driesen, Matthew Gent, Kim Ismay, Rosalind James, Jeremy Legat, Carl Mullaney, Liz Robertson, Anton Stephans, George Ure, Stevie Webb and LuCy Williamson.
'A Spotlight On...' is an opportunity for well known musical theatre artists to share the music and stories that are important to them, both within their careers and their personal lives. It has earned a solid reputation for the quality of its artists and their uniquely honest performances. This is a rare chance to get up-close and connect with those that continue to inspire us on the big stage. Kieran Brown recently joined the London cast of Wicked covering the roles of Dr Dillamond and the Wizard of Oz. Recent credits include: Ensemble/cover Raoul in Love Never Dies, Feuilly in Les Miserables, Elton John/Tony Christie in the UK tour of Laughter in the Rain, Tom in Over the Threshold, Algernon Moncrieff in The Importance of Being Ernest, The Actor in The Woman in Black and Dane O'Neill in The Thorn Birds in the World Premiere. In 2005 Kieran was honoured to perform for and meet Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in Edinburgh.
Beverley Klein's credits are too numerous and varied to mention here, but include the original cast of Les Miserables, and Ida in Honk at The National Theatre where appearances also include The Old Woman in Candide, The Nurse in Romeo and Juliet, Olga in Summerfolk and Mrs Peachum in The Villains' Opera. For Opera North: Mrs Lovett in Sweeney Todd (Manchester Evening News nomination). Other notable appearances include Miss Jones in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (TMA nomination), Bernarda in Bernarda Alba, The Witch in Into The Woods, Shawntel in Jerry Springer: The Opera and Piaf in Piaf at the Nottingham Playhouse, York Theatre Royal, and Oldham Coliseum for which she received the Manchester Evening News Best Actress Award.
David Alder is celebrating 45 years in show business. He recently appeared in the Les Miserable 25th Anniversary concert at the O2 Arena. West End credits include The Ghost of Christmas Present in Scrooge at The Dominion, the Head Waiter in She Loves Me at the Savoy, Drake in Annie at the Victoria Palace, Me and My Girl and Irene at the Adelphi, Les Miserables at the Palace, Blondel at the Old Vic and Aldwych, Salad Days at the Duke of York's, Call Me Madam at the Victoria Palace, Leonardo at the Strand, Victoria Wood's Talent at The Players and a charity performance of Mack and Mabel at the Aldwych. He has played in twelve pantomimes at Windsor, five at Potters Bar and many others at Wolverhampton, Bromley and Eastbourne.
Lucy May Barker played Ilse in the rock musical Spring Awakening at the Lyric, Hammersmith and Novello Theatre and has appeared in Earthquakes in London, The Crucible, Really Old Like Forty Five, Zombie Prom, Annie, The Reluctant Debutante UK tour. Most recently she was in the Chichester Festival Theatre production of Sweeney Todd as Johanna as well as appearing in the new film version of The Woman in Black. She returns to The Landor after her sell-out performance at last years season.
LeAnne Jones made her professional debut as Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray at The Shaftesbury Theatre. In the first year of Hairspray's success Leanne was awarded the Critics Circle Award for Best Newcomer, the Theatregoers Choice Award 2008 for Best Actress in a musical and The Laurence Olivier Award 2008 for Best Actress in a Musical. Other notable productions have included, Tick Tick Boom at The Union Theatre, Hairspray at the DUCTAC, Dubai UAE, Bev in The Naked Truth by Dave Simpson (UK Tour) and You're a Good Man Charlie Brown. Leanne returns to The Landor by popular demand after her last appearance last year.
Clive Rowe will be the season finale for 'A Spotlight On'. Clive won the 1997 Oliver Award for Best Performance in a Supporting Role in a Musical for his role as Nicely Nicely Johnson, in The National Theatre revival of Guys and Dolls. He was also Nominated for an Olivier Award in 1993 for Best Supporting Performance in Carousel. A truely great musical theatre icon; just some of his shows have included: The Wiz, Company, The Fantasticks, Chicago, Caroline or Change, The Villains Opera, Candide, Peter Pan, Little Shop of Horrors, Just So and Carmen Jones (to name but a few!). Clive can also be seen on both the small and big screens, appearing in Doctor Who, Tracie Beaker, Dalziel and Pascoe, All the Small Things and the controversial film, Manderlay.
