The Fi.ELD (Future Innovators: East London Dance) announces their weekend dance festival Live + Direct at Stratford Circus Arts Centre on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October 2017.

Produced by young people for young people, East London Dance's future innovators programme presents Live + Direct Festival, an event for young dance enthusiasts to experience live workshops, jams, and performances and receive direct career guidance.

Fi.ELD member and festival producer Viviana Rocha said: "With our Live + Direct Festival we hope to give fellow young artists a taste of the unique learning and creative experience we have had over the last 7 months as part of The Fi.ELD programme. The festival is aimed at engaging and exciting future dance creatives and innovators with fun dance activities and useful career advice whilst also providing a platform for them to showcase what they do best."

East London Dance Creative producer Kirsty Trujillo said: "Our Fi.ELDers are the future innovators of dance. They have pitched ideas for real cash investment and are now delivering an action packed programme for this festival. It is wonderful to see them bringing together their combined skills, honed over the course of the Fi.ELD programme, to create an event that will both engage and benefit their peers."

Saturday 28 October: 10am - 8:30pm at Stratford Circus Arts Centre

Sunday 29 October: 10am - 8pm at Stratford Circus Arts Centre

Festival goers can expect fiery dance battles and performances from emerging choreographers who are connected to the dance and theatre scene, alongside the chance to perfect their dance resume with career building master classes and headshot photo shoots. This weekend festival creates an opportunity for young creative minds to experience the east London dance scene, collaborate with future dance leaders and kick-start a dance career journey.

The Saturday Festival line-up sees hip hop (Dani Harris) and live music (Francis Angol) workshops, a dance games hub and an open style dance battle* which festival goers can sign up to take part in or enjoy from the sidelines, with music from DJ DBO, Magz & Khaled.

Sunday focuses on direct career guidance with talks from Greenwich Theatre's Artistic and Creative Director James Haddrel on self-marketing, Avant Garde Dance associate director Lisa Hood on professional standards and Just Us Dance director Joseph Toonga on starting a company. Headshot (also available on Saturday) and showreel footage sessions will run throughout the afternoon to give that professional edge to festival goers' dance resumes. Afrobeats (Fumi Opeyemi) and contemporary dance (Robia Milliner) workshops will also be available to take part in.

Sunday also sees the culmination of the festival with scratch performances from emerging artists Lindon Barr, Rhys Dennis, Greta Luisa Gauhe, Tanaya Martin and Socia Nurul,

at the final showcase event giving them a platform to perform and audiences a chance to see the cutting-edge work of local young dance talent.
