FIRST Festival of Solo Performances at Tristan Bates Headlined by Steve Furst

FIRST Festival of Solo Performance is Tristan Bates Theatre's annual Festival of Solo Performances, first curated in 2013 gaining the support of Arts Council England in 2014. It has showcased work by Fringe First Award winner Patrice Naiambana, Adelaide Festival Award-winner Lucy Hopkins, innovative emerging performers Molly Naylor and Ira Brand, Bristol Residence artist Ed Rapley, magician Ali Cook, poetry from Phill Jupitus and comedy from Shappi Khorsandi among many others. It returns for its fifth and biggest year yet with a packed programme of shows including the headliner - Steve Furst: In Character. Matthew Keeler, creative producer says 'This year is our biggest FIRST festival yet. In addition to myriad workshops, readings and discussions. I could not be more thrilled that acclaimed comedian and actor Steve Furst will be headlining and kicking-off this year's festival with his hilarious, multi-character extravaganza, Steve Furst: In Character.'

Steve Furst presents his one-man show - a hysterical series of different characters from waltzer-owner Ernie Vas, to his latest creation - The Mayor of Kentish Town - a fast-talking no-nonsense local politician. Steve Furst's theatre credits include Matilda and Made in Dagenham. He has appeared on Little Britain and The Wright Stuff. Directed by Andrew Keates (As Is, Dessa Rose at Trafalgar Studios, the forthcoming Chinglish at Park Theatre). Steve Furst says: 'Tristan Bates is the perfect, intimate theatre for a solo multi-character show like mine and to be headlining such a brilliant festival is a real honour!'
