ELEGIES FOR ANGELS, PUNKS, AND RAGING QUEENS to Run 18 Feb - 2 March at White Bear Theatre

This AIDS Memorial quilt is made up of a patchwork of panels that are dedicated to the memories of the people that lost their lives from this disease. The musical is a series of monologues in free verse; each one is based upon a single panel from the quilt, telling the story of their struggle with the disease, their achievements and the people that affected their lives for the better or for the worse. These monologues are interspersed with a Blues, Jazz and Rock Score; with the songs telling the stories of the loved ones of the people who have been the victim of AIDS. This piece is touching, sad, funny, heart warming, but most of all it is a celebration of the lives of these people that have been struck down by this disease.

This subject matter is still very relevant in this modern world; over 98,000 people in the UK are living with this disease and in 2012 47% of cases were diagnosed late which means there is a ten fold increase of dying within the first year of treatment. Promoting the awareness of AIDS is so important and this musical is another way of doing that, whilst celebrating the memories of those who have past.

The production will be supporting and promoting the work of The Terrence Higgins Trust. All money made from the programme sales will be donated to the trust to help them continue their fantastic work.

First time producers, Marc Kelly and Elizabeth Chadwick, are proud to be putting on this show as their first production together and have brought a diverse cast of talented actors and singers to perform it. As well as producing the show, Marc will be directing the piece and Elizabeth will be a member of the ensemble showing their varied skills in the theatrical world.

The production will be opening on Tuesday 18th February until Sunday 2nd March at the award winning White Bear Theatre in Kennington, London.
