DumbWise Theatre's new actor-musician production of Faust premieres this month at The Warren as part of the Brighton Fringe Festival in a run tonight, May 22 to 25. It will transfer to Oxford House, London, this June.
Directed by John Ward, with Musical Direction by David Hewson, Faust is the first production in a new programme of adapted 'musical' works from DumbWise Theatre.
About the show: "In a twisted re-telling of Goethe's classic tale, a young man sells his soul for a ticket on life's ultimate thrill ride, embarking on a musical spree of corruption and sin. Accompanied by a dark and hedonistic outsider, Faust tears his way through a God fearing community, setting his sights on the innocent but irresistible Gretchen, sparking a cacophony of tragic events.
"With an entirely original score, the emotive surge of classical verse collides with a gypsy caravan of dark folk ballad and blues, orchestrated live by an all-actor musician cast.
"In an atmospheric cabaret setting, DumbWise invites the festival folk to find a table, pull up a pew, pour their poison and prepare their senses for a total theatre event...
