An international improv comedy institution since 1993, the 26th annual Die-Nasty Soap-A-Thon returns to the Varscona Theatre running continuously for 50 hours from Friday, September 14 at 7:00 p.m. until Sunday, September 16 at 9:00 p.m.
The Die-Nasty Soap-a-Thon is a fundraising event for Die-Nasty helping to keep ticket prices reasonable for improv fans throughout the year. The theme and story for this season's Soap-A-Thon is focused on The Bun-Bun Family, owners and operators of a successful Dinosaur Theme Park in Alberta. Join the party as Great Grandma Cookie Bun-Bun, matriarch of the Bun-Bun Family, is about to become the World's Oldest Person. It's a massive family reunion where nothing could possibly go wrong.
Soap-A-Thon 2018 features Die-Nasty favourites including Stephanie Wolfe, Jeff Haslam, Tom Edwards, Matt Alden, Belinda Cornish, Jesse Gervais, Jason Hardwick, Vincent Forcier, Delia Barnett, Kristi Hansen, Paul Morgan Donald, and includes special guests Ron Pederson, Louise Lambert, Mat Busby, John Ullyatt, and many more including the Die-Nasty return of beloved international improv icon, Edmonton's Patti Stiles.
Directing the Die-Nasty Soap-a-Thon will be a shared affair from across the company beginning with Vincent Forcier. Music is directed by Paul Morgan Donald. Die-Nasty is produced by Nicole Thibault.
$20 daily tickets and $60 weekend passes are available at the door. The daily ticket allows you to stay as long as you like without leaving. The weekend pass allows you to come and go as you please during the entire 50 hours of Soap-A-Thon. Weekend Passes now on sale at the Varscona Theatre website varsconatheatre.com/dienasty.
Daily Tickets go on sale at 6pm Friday, September 16 at the Varscona Theatre box office (10329-83 Avenue) and are available all weekend long. Each year the fundraiser features Special Shifts where the improv is directed towards a specific topic or audience. Join the Soap-A-Thon on Sunday September 18 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. for Family Hour where you can bring the kids for fun, family-filled improv. Also on Sunday, from 3:00 a.m. until 5:00 a.m. be there for the Gratuitous Rampaging Dinosaur Hour. A Canadian comedy institution for over two decades, Die-Nasty features a dedicated ensemble of improvising actors, musicians, and technicians coming together in an all new serial genre every theatre season on Monday nights at 7:30pm at the beautiful Varscona Theatre in glorious Old Strathcona. On Sunday September 16, at the conclusion of Soap-A-Thon 2018, Die-Nasty will unveil the Theme for the 2018-2019 Season.
