On Saturday 14 July (4.30pm, 5pm and 5.30pm), Dundee Dance Partnership and Dundee Rep Creative Learning will come together for the first time to take you on "a 90 minute journey through Dundee City Centre inspired by the rich history of dance in the city."

Beginning at The Shore, around 100 performers from community and professional groups will take you on a journey full of dance treats through City Square, along Reform Street to McManus Galleries, performing work inspired by the city and its long love of dance.

Along the route expect to see archive footage and photographs from old Dundee, dance films and installations, live music from local band Huva, and hear stories of how dance has played a part in Dundee life over the years.

From 6-8pm, all the performers will gather at McManus Galleries where there will be a showcase of dances that have been popular in Dundee over the years; from the Waltz and Ceildh to Disco and The Twist and the chance to have a go yourself!

Dundee Dance Partnership is a group of Dundee based dance companies who work together to promote the wealth of dance opportunities available in the city; Dance Advance, Do Your Thing, Scottish Dance Theatre, Scottish Dance Theatre Youth Dance Company, new graduates of Scottish School of Contemporary Dance at Dundee College, Showcase the Street, Smallpetitklein and Urban Moves along with Dundee Rep Creative Learning.

Tickets for Dance Walk are free but limited. Please book in advance through Dundee Rep Box Office on 01382 223530. The event at McManus is free and non ticketed; just turn up on the evening.

Dundee Dance Walk is part of Big Dance and Get Scotland Dancing, a Scottish Government Games Legacy Policy. Big Dance is part of the Cultural Olympiad and the London 2012 festival.
