Ballet is returning to Parr Hall for the first time in more than five years with a performance of Tchaikovsky's masterpiece, Swan Lake.

Widely regarded as the greatest of all the romantic ballets, the classic will be brought to life on Warrington's historic stage by 30 dancers from the acclaimed Crown Ballet company on 16 September.

Filled with mystery, romance and emotional depth and featuring some of the artform's most breathtaking choreography and memorable music, audiences will experience a timeless tale of love, betrayal and redemption.

Telling the story of Odette, a princess cursed to live as a swan by day and a woman by night, Swan Lake was first performed almost 150 years ago at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow in 1877.

Although not an immediate success, it has become one of the most beloved and frequently performed ballets across the world.

Alexej Ignatow, Director of Crown Ballet, said: “We cannot wait to bring the tour to Warrington to present the greatest romantic ballet.

“Swan Lake combines a mesmerising mix of movement, music, storytelling and visual spectacle with a huge amount of discipline, strength and technical skill, and we're passionate about sharing this true art form with as many people as possible. See you soon!”

Crown Ballet is best known for its traditional performances. Presenting more than 70 ballet classics across the UK every year, also in the company's repertoire is The Nutcracker, Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote and many more.
