The Cosmic Shambles Network are back with a bang this Autumn with another three months of inspirational and entertaining digital and live events for people with curious minds.

On 31st August Dr Helen Czerski and the rest of the research expedition on the Swedish icebreaker, Oden, passed their halfway point after 2 weeks drifting with their chosen ice floe. Her fascinating regular blog from the expedition called Blog in a Teacup will continue until the end of the expedition at the end of September.

Earlier this year Ginny Smith filmed several exclusive science cookery short films with leading New Zealand scientist, Dr Michelle Dickinson when she was in the UK to promote her new book The Kitchen Science Cookbook. The first and second videos are now available with more to follow shortly.

On 4th September The Network were extremely excited to launch their new blog platform which will involve some of the most popular and well-respected writers of the moment. These will include Dr Dean Burnett, Prof Jon Butterworth, Dr Suzi Gage, Dr Pete Etchells and Dr Brenna Hasset, to name but a few. The aim of the site is also to introduce a host of previously unknown writers over the coming months alongside regular contributors.

The Book Shambles is back in style from 6th September with the first of the podcasts hosted by Robin during this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The first one will feature Comedians Kiri Pritchard-McLean and George Egg, with those featuring Neil Gaiman, Ian Rankin and Alex Edelman to follow shortly. The Network are also proud to have been invited to contribute to the London Podcast Festival at Kings Place, London. So, on 8th September Robin and Josie will be hosting a Book Shambles Live episode with special guests Kevin Fong and Mark Miodownik. This will be Josie's return to Book Shambles since the birth of her baby.

October sees the launch of Robin Ince's new book I'm A Joke And So Are You, which looks into what makes Comedians (and the rest of us) do what we do. To celebrate the launch The Cosmic Shambles Network will be hosting a special event at King's Place at the beginning of November with Robin and some very special guests.

On 6th October Robin will be hosting Book Shambles Live at the Ilkley Literary Festival.

Later in the month on 12th October, The Cosmic Shambles team will be returning to QED to host another edition of the hugely popular QED Friday Night Quiz. This year's theme is Space. Robin will also be hosting a special Book Shambles Live edition from QED on 13th October with Pioneering aviator and member of the Mercury 13, Wally Funk, and writer and broadcaster Sue Nelson. Robin will then go on to the Manchester Science Festival for another edition of Book Shambles Live on 22nd October where, along with co-host Professor Sophie Scott, he will be chatting to Psychologist and Author Professor Charles Fernyhough.
