Fans of the iconic soap Prisoner: Cell Block H will be in for a treat this November as two of it's biggest stars are reunited especially for fans in Britain courtesy of Screen Star Events.
Maggie Kirkpatrick played the black gloved warder from hell Joan "The Freak" Ferguson in over 400 episodes of Prisoner. She will be joined by Glenda Linscott, known to fans of the show as tough biker Rita "The Beater" Connors, the top dog who managed to rid Wentworth Detention Centre of Ferguson for good in the now legendary last episode.
Although both stars have appeared in Britain before (Maggie in the celebrated Prisoner musical with Lily Savage in 1995, and some years before Glenda toured Britain with the stage play version) this is the very first time that fans will have had a chance to see them together since the programme finished production 24 years ago.
"I have been appearing as Madam Morrible in the musical Wicked in Australia for the past two years," says Maggie Kirkpatrick. "Finally, we have a couple of months off so the chance to hop on a plane and get together with Glenda again in front of all those loyal British fans of the show was something I didn't want to miss".
Glenda Linscott is equally enthusiastic about being back among the hardcore fans. "Britain took Prisoner to it's heart all those years ago, and the following the show still has over there is quite staggering. Working with Maggie on those final episodes of the series was a very special part of my career. It's going to be wonderful seeing Maggie again and reliving some memories of our time opposing each other in Cell Block H."Both ladies will be appearing at events for the British fan club - now sold out - but fans will have another chance to meet these legendary ladies of Australian television at Memorabilia being held at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st November 2010.
