Casting is now complete for the European premiere of Lynn Ahrens' and Stephen Flaherty's multiple Drama Desk-nominated Off-Broadway musical The Glorious Ones, which will play at the Landor Theatre, London, from Tuesday March 6 to Saturday April 7.

West End star Peter Straker and Mike Christie - best known as one quarter of the platinum-selling recording group G4 - are joined by Christopher Berry, Kate Brennan, Anouska Eaton, Peter Gerald and Jodie Beth Meyer.

Born in Jamaica, Peter Straker is known to more than one generation of music fans and theatergoers as a unique and versatile performer. He first attracted attention in 1968 when he starred as Hud in the original London production of the seminal musical Hair. He has appeared on a regular basis in both musical and theatre productions in the West End, including Pete Townsend's Tommy (Queen's Theatre); Blues In The Night (Piccadilly Theatre); the title role in Ken Hill's The Phantom Of The Opera (originally performed at Theatre Royal, Stratford then at Shaftesbury Theatre) and Hot Stuff (Cambridge Theatre).

Mike Christie is best known as one quarter of the platinum-selling recording group G4 who rose to prominence in the first-ever series of The X Factor and went on to sell over 2 million albums in the UK. Mike has just starred in two separate productions of Cinderella in Ludlow and Exeter, and having just released his self-penned debut solo album he will embark on a UK solo tour later this year.

The Glorious Ones reunites the award-winning creative team behind last year's Landor Theatre production of Ahrens' and Flaherty's Ragtime - director Robert McWhir, designer Martin Thomas and lighting designer Howard?Hudson.

Set in 17th-century Italy, The Glorious Ones concerns a theatre group in the world of commedia dell'arte and theatre of the Italian Renaissance. It's a sung valentine to the actor's life, with its joys, hardships and sorrows, set during a period when the comic theatre was beginning to shed its vulgar roots and evolve toward a greater refinement.

Although longtime songwriting teams have become a rarity, Lynn Ahrens (lyrics) and Stephen Flaherty (music) have proved the recent exception. They won the Tony Award, Drama Desk and Outer Critics' Circle Awards and received two Grammy nominations for their score of the Broadway musical Ragtime. They also garnered two Oscar nominations and two Golden Globe nominations for the songs and score of the animated feature film, Anastasia (Gold Record and Number One Song.) They are co-creators of the Broadway musicals Once On This Island (eight Tony Award nominations, Olivier Award for Best Musical) and Seussical (Grammy and Drama Desk nominations. One of the most frequently performed show in America). Other Broadway and off-Broadway credits include My Favorite Year, A Man of No Importance (Outer Critics Circle Award, Best Musical); Dessa Rose (winner, 2005 Audelco Award for Best Musical, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations); Lucky Stiff (Helen Hayes Award, Best Musical); and Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life.
