Nuffield announces the appointment of Caroline Routh to the company's new position of Executive Director.

Routh, currently the Executive Producer for the Musical Theatre Network, will join Nuffield in October. She was previously Executive Director of Northern Stage, and Administrative Director of Battersea Arts Centre.

Speaking about the new appointment, Nuffield's Director Samuel Hodges said:
"It's a really exciting time for Nuffield right now and we are thrilled to welcome Caroline to the team. Her expertise will help us build and lead on our ambitious cultural regeneration plans for the city and expand our programme across the city, region and beyond"

Routh joins Nuffield at a pivotal point when the company are poised to expand to a multi-venue operation. As announced in March, Nuffield will be the operating company of the North Building of Southampton's new £22 million purpose-built arts venue which is due to open in late 2016. Nuffield will run the new space alongside their existing theatre on the Highfield campus of the University of Southampton.

Routh will join Nuffield in time for the launch of their autumn production this October, The Glass Menagerie, directed by Samuel Hodges with design by Ultz (Olivier Award winner, Jerusalem). Nuffield's second production of the season will be the legend of Merlin at Christmas; directed by Liam Steel, the co-production with Royal & Derngate, Northampton is created by Ella Hickson and Olly Birch, with music by Rob Castell (BAFTA nominee, Officially Amazing, CBBC). Their autumn/winter season also features Little Bulb's retelling of Orpheus, Belgrade Theatre & Sell a Door Theatre Company's musical adaptation of Ian Serrallier's novel The Silver Sword, and The Witches, a Curve Leicester and Rose Theatre Kingston production of the classic Roald Dahl story.
