Fresh from rave reviews at Brighton Fringe, Lotta will be continuing her mission this August at the Canal Cafe Theatre, The Thelmas are proud to present PULL YOUR SOCKS UP, BRITAIN! with LOTTA QUIZEEN.
At times of national peril, with all this devolution, UKIP-Lilliputian and Russell Brand-prostitution, what we need are role models with high standards, proper poise, and a healthy respect for good grammar. Thank goodness Lotta Quizeen is here! While husband Dickie is abroad with work, Lotta's son Hugo has agreed to help his mother out with her campaign - if only he would hurry back from Prontaprint with the pamphlets! The empty nest has never seemed emptier for women like Lotta and with so many young women busy with their careers (including her daughter-in-law, Susan), Lotta is ready to step majestically into the breach and bring sensible back to this fair isle! Today the John Lewis Aga; tomorrow, the World!
Lotta Quizeen a.k.a. Katie Richardson is proud to be making her debut at Camden Fringe with her unique blend of domestic audience trials, quips on current affairs and ruddy rude British humour. Lotta's newest incarnation is the result of a collaboration between female new writing company, The Thelmas, director Madelaine Moore and playwright, Serena Haywood. The Thelmas are devoted to the promotion and development of female writers and theatre makers. We want to tell stories - stories of women, by women and for women.
She says,
"Friends, voters and citizens of Britain, I, Lotta Quizeen am here to bring sensible back. Today I am very proud to present the Pull Your Socks Up, Britain campaign manifesto. Or WOmanifesto I should say. "
"The other parties offer you a pledge for this, a pledge for that but only I can really promise that in my domestic paradise my Pledge, along with my friends Mr Sheen and Mr Muscle will be used to their best effect. Let's bring our pride and all our products out from under the sink of our despondency. In the days to come, I will bust the dust off this country, bring Vim and vigour to our efforts and my goodness give you more Cillit Bang for your buck than all those other drab and lacklustre chaps put together.
"Join with me and for each promise I keep you can put one marble in the happy household jar. My son Hugo (33) has already earned 1 for helping me with the pamphlets and is so looking forward to our trip to Dulwich Pizza Express when it's full. He simply loves their chocolate dough balls and who am I to argue with a boy who gets so much pleasure from fitting four into his mouth at once."
