Can You Hear Me Running? follows the incredible real-life journey of Louise Breckon-Richards - a performer who lost her voice due to a rare condition and tried to overcome it by running the London Marathon.
In 2009, Louise was auditioning for the global smash-hit Mamma Mia. But then illness shattered her chances and her voice gave way. Pushing on, Louise swapped song sheets for trainers, embracing a new challenge as she fought to re-find her voice. Using Louise's actual notes, blog entries and her diary, playwright Jo Harper shows us Louise as she meets a host of people on her journey, from voice professionals to new-age healers. Can You Hear Me Running? is a fun and thought-provoking one-woman show about defiance in face of all the odds.
Louise comments: I never imagined how losing the strength in one muscle would lead me to find another. When I lost my voice as a performer, I discovered my running legs and ran a marathon, which ultimately has led me back on stage. To have found a positive amid the loss has given me the rare opportunity to be creatively involved in a project that matters deeply to me.
