A brand new season of the very best West End musicals, stand-up comedy, live music and drama has been announced today by Birmingham's New Alexandra Theatre.

Following a sold-out season in 2015, the smash-hit Broadway and West End musical JERSEY BOYS will embark on a new nationwide tour, beginning at the New Alex. Winner of Broadway's Tony, London's Olivier and Australia's Helpmann Awards for Best New Musical, JERSEY BOYS is the winner of 57 major awards and has been seen by over 24 million people worldwide. The musical which closed in London's West End last week after a record-breaking 9 year run, will be making its home in Birmingham over the festive period with performances from Saturday 16th December 2017 - Saturday 6th January 2018.

Craig Revel Horwood will direct and choreograph a new musical featuring the greatest hits of Dusty Springfield. SON OF A PREACHER MAN visits the Station Street venue from Tuesday 12th - Saturday 16th September. Meanwhile, Strictly Come Dancing favourites Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace return to Birmingham with their latest sizzling production, TANGO MODERNO from Tuesday 19th - Saturday 23rd September. The dancing duo are no strangers to the City, following their acclaimed performances in Dance Til Dawn and Midnight Tango.

Fans of Monty Python and The Holy Grail are in for a treat when the musical comedy SPAMALOT takes to the stage from Tuesday 3rd - Saturday 7th October. Written by Python legend Eric Idle this new production of Spamalot is brought to the award-winning team at Selladoor Productions, whose previous tours of Footloose, American Idiot, Avenue Q and Little Shop of Horrors have taken Birmingham by storm.

A nationwide search will soon be commencing to find a leading lady in CILLA - THE MUSICAL. Based on the hit television series by the BAFTA award-winning author Jeff Pope, Cilla - The Musical chapters the spectacular rise to fame of one of Britain's best-loved entertainers. Cilla's eldest son Robert Willis will take on the role of Executive Producer whilst Bill Kenwright and Bob Tomson direct. The new musical which includes some of Cilla's greatest hits along with other '60s defining songs visits the New Alexandra Theatre from Tuesday 10th - Saturday 14th October.

In November, Stage and Screen actors Paul Bradley (Holby City) and EastEnder's Jessie Wallace lead the cast of Ira Levin's DEATHTRAP. Described as 'A killer thriller with real caviar quality' by The Times, Deathrap continues to hold the record as the longest running thriller in Broadway history. Performances at the theatre run from Tuesday 7th - Saturday 11th November.

Following their critically acclaimed production of Gangsta Granny, Birmingham Stage Company return to their Midlands residence with their the world premiere production of David Walliams' AWFUL AUNTIE from Wednesday 22nd - Sunday 26th November

Birmingham Pantomime favourite Brian Conley takes to the New Alexandra Theatre stage in his latest stand-up show THE GREATEST ENTERTAINER (IN HIS PRICE RANGE) on Saturday 13th May.

Following their success on the BBC's All Together Now: The Orchestra Challenge, the Midlands' own THE PEOPLE'S ORCHESTRA will play LEGENDS: SUPERHERO SYMPHONIES at the New Alexandra Theatre on Saturday 22nd July. This brand new show will see the orchestra perform soundtracks from universally adored superhero films including Superman, Batman and Spiderman.

Musical theatre favourite Joe McElderry is celebrating the release of his fifth studio album with special guests Lloyd Daniels, Keith Jack and Ben James-Ellis in THE GLORIA TOUR on Thursday 27th July.

2017 will also see the New Alexandra Theatre open up their Piano Bar for Cinema Screenings, Cocktail Masterclasses, Post-Show Parties and from 1pm on the first Friday of each month, students from Birmingham Conservatoire will perform a series of free lunchtime concerts, COFFEE, CAKE & CADENZAS.
