24 children from The Theatre Workshop in Edgbaston will be joining the cast of Tim Rice & Andrew Lloyd Webbers classic rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar on stage at Birmingham Hippodrome from 2 - 7 November 2015. The children from the local stage school will perform in two of the well-known musical numbers from the show, alongside an acclaimed cast which includes musical theatre star Glenn Carter and X Factor's Rachel Adedeji.
Suzy Bleasdale from The Theatre Workshop said "We are very excited to be providing the children for the Birmingham leg of the tour. There will be 12 students taking part in each performance and they will be performing two songs in the production - Hosanna & Jesus Christ Superstar. We got involved with the production as we have schools in Sussex and they provide children for lots of Bill Kenwright Productions and they asked us to be involved in Birmingham - which we were thrilled about."
Jesus Christ Superstar exploded onto the musical scene in 1971 and tells the story of the last seven days in the life of Jesus through an extraordinary, ground-breaking score. As compelling today as it was at its inception over 40 years ago, Jesus Christ Superstar features some of musical theatre's most legendary songs from I Don't Know How to Love Him, Everything's Alright, Gethsemane and Superstar.
