Birmingham Hippodrome Announces Ballot Tickets for Mariinsky Theatre's Staging of Wagner's THE RING CYCLE

This November, Birmingham Hippodrome will present a once in a lifetime event as Wagner's epic Ring Cycle conducted by Maestro Valery Gergiev with his world-famous Mariinsky Opera makes its Birmingham Hippodrome debut with four performances over five nights; more than 250 artists will travel from St Petersburg to Birmingham, along with 10 trucks of scenery for this large scale undertaking.

To allow as many people as possible to enjoy this special event Birmingham Hippodrome has announced 100 tickets per opera will be made available on a ballot basis at just £30 each (plus 5% transaction charge), representing a discount of up to 85% on some tickets.

This ballot for the Ring Cycle has been made possible because of BP's support for the Mariinsky visit to Birmingham Hippodrome. BP has been supporting Mariinsky UK touring since 2011 and already has facilitated over 60 Mariinsky performances at the Edinburgh International Festival, BBC Proms, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Wales Millennium Centre, Barbican Centre and Symphony Hall, Birmingham.

Applicants are asked to email ringcycleballot@birminghamhippodrome.com with their full name, contact phone number, address and the best time to be contacted by Wednesday 29 October. Successful ticket applicants will be drawn at random and contacted by phone by Birmingham Hippodrome for payment in advance following the deadline. (Terms and conditions apply*)

For Birmingham's first fully-staged Ring Cycle for several decades, Maestro Gergiev has assembled a stellar cast including Willard White, Ekaterina Gubanova, Andreas Schager, Vitaly Kovalyov, Mikahil Petrenko and Mlada Khudoley for the fully-staged production.

Mariinsky Theatre's presentation of Richard Wagner's The Ring Cycle runs at Birmingham HippodromeWed 5 - Sun 9 November 2014 with the following four opera performance schedule:

Wednesday 5 November 2014 - Das Rheingold - 7.30pm

Thursday 6 November 2014 - Die Walküre - 5pm

Saturday 8 November 2014 - Siegfried - 5pm

Sunday 9 November 2014 - Götterdämmerung - 5pm
