Belgrade Theatre to Welcome World Premiere Stage Production of GANGSTA GRANNY

Curious kids from across Coventry and Warwickshire can look forward to a bumper programme of family-friendly activities taking place this February half term at the Belgrade Theatre.

Kicking off the festivities from Tues 16 - Sat 20 Feb, the Belgrade Theatre is thrilled to welcome back The Birmingham Stage Company in the world-stage premiere of David Walliams' best-selling novel, Gangsta Granny.

It's Friday night and Ben knows that means only one thing - staying with granny! There will be cabbage soup, cabbage pie and cabbage cake and Ben knows one thing for sure - it's going to be sooooooooo boring! But what Ben doesn't know is that granny has a secret - and Friday nights are about to get more exciting than he could ever imagine, as he embarks on the adventure of a lifetime with his very own Gangsta Granny!

To coincide with the opening of Gangsta Granny in the Main Auditorium, the Belgrade Theatre will be opening its doors to curious kids and their families for another fun-filled afternoon of interactive drama games, free activities, storytelling and crafts between 10am - 4pm on Tues 16th February for the return of the theatre's popular Family Day For Curious Kids.

Celebrate Half Term in style with an unmissable programme of free events celebrating the award-winning novels of David Walliams plus a selection of great family shows coming up at the theatre later this Summer including The Giant's Loo Roll on 2 June and Pongo's Partyfrom 3-4 June from the creators of Marty Macdonald's Farm.

Get creative with free craft sessions in the Burbidge Gallery including mask-making mischief with Gangsta Granny and Pongo The Pig, farmyard finger puppets with Marty McDonald, odorous underwear paper craft, create-your-own crown jewels and 'walk-like-a-giant' workshops taking place throughout the afternoon.

Visitors can also look forward to free face painting inspired by the Belgrade's 2016 panto, Dick Whittington, plus, audiences are invited to get to grips with the Belgrade's hidden spaces with our Family Treasure Trail. Families can also take advantage of free storytelling sessions in our Café Bar, complimentary soft play zone located on the Burbidge Gallery and a range of family-friendly stalls and information services located throughout the foyer spaces.

And don't forget to keep your eyes peeled for our very own 'Gangsta Grannies' who will be on hand throughout the day armed with freebies, special offers and other Belgrade booty!

Throughout Half Term, the Belgrade Theatre will also play host to a fun and interactive two days of drama workshops with the return ofFebruary Half Term Camp from Mon 15 & Tues 16 February. Led by experienced theatre practitioners, this half term, participants are invited to unleash their inner zombie with two action packed days dedicated to exploring our fascination with these fantasy creatures. February Half Term camp is open to ages 8-11 and 11-16 years with no previous drama experience necessary.

February Half Term Camp runs from 10am - 4pm each day and is priced at £50 per child. Family discounts are available if two or more siblings booked onto the same event, during the same term. 20% off for two siblings, 25% off for three siblings and 30% off for 4 or more siblings. This discount only applies when booking over the phone or in person at Box Office.

Holiday Camp participants get 10% discount on Saturday Drama Classes in the following term.
