Barry Reed's smash hit legal thriller The Verdict is heading to Belgrade Theatre next month in a star-studded production from Middle Ground Theatre, adapted for the stage by Margaret May Hobbs and directed and designed by Michael Lunney.
Following the huge success of its "utterly captivating" debut in 2017, this acclaimed production kicks off its second UK tour in Coventry 30 January-2 February, complete with a glittering new cast.
Ian Kelsey stars as washed-up alcoholic lawyer Frank Galvin, who is presented with one last chance to redeem himself when he is given an open-and-shut medical malpractice case that no one thinks he can win. Up against an unforgiving medical establishment and the might of the Catholic Church, Galvin courageously refuses to accept an out-of-court settlement, smelling a cover-up and believing it is negligence that has condemned a young mother.
Known to millions for his regular roles in Blue Murder, Emmerdale, Casualty, Down to Earth, Where the Heart is, Doctors and Coronation Street, Ian Kelsey is joined by Denis Lill (Only Fools and Horses, The Royal, Rumpole of the Bailey, The Regiment, Survivors) as his mentor Moe Katz, Christopher Ettridge (Goodnight Sweetheart) as his rival, J Edgar Concannon and Paul Opacic (Bad Girls, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks) as surgeon Rexford Towler.
Completing the cast will be Richard Walsh (London's Burning) as Bishop Brophy and Judge Sweeney, Karen Drury (Brookside) as Mary Rooney, Josephine Rogers as Donna St Laurent, Michael Lunney as Eugene Meehan and Daniel Crowley MD, Okon Jones as Lionel Thompson MD, Anne Kavanagh as Mrs McDaid, Holly Jackson Walters as Holly Jackson Walters, James Morley as Thomas Lauridsen, Jog Maher as Jeremy Callahan, Alexandra Fisher as Jury Foreman and Greg Fitch.
The Verdict shows at the Belgrade Theatre Wed 30 Jan - Sat 2 Feb. Tickets are available to book now by calling the box office on 024 7655 3055 or visiting www.belgrade.co.uk where prices are even cheaper.
