Aureum Hosts the UK Premiere of Ken Davenports MY FIRST TIME

My First Time by Ken Davenport and people just like you, is a play that immediately thrusts the audience into relatable, funny and heartfelt stories. With 4 actors and 40,000 stories, maybe one of them may be yours.

"We're really delighted to have been given the opportunity to produce My First Time for the audiences of Newcastle upon Tyne and surrounding areas. This is the first time this production has been produced in the United Kingdom, so it is officially the UK premiere." Said Neil Riddell, Managing Director for Aureum Productions and the Producer of My First Time.

"My First Time has had an amazing response from across the globe and it's about time the UK audiences get the opportunity to see this amazing play. This production is guaranteed to make you leave with a smile on your face and hopefully more," he added.

In 1998 a website was created that allowed people to anonymously share their own true stories about their First Times. The website became an instant phenomenon as over 40,000 stories poured in from around the globe that were silly, sweet, absurd, funny, heterosexual, homosexual, shy, outrageous and everything in between.

These true stories and the unique characters in them are brought to life by four actors in the acclaimed, MY FIRST TIME. Aureum Productions are presenting the UK Premiere of this critically acclaimed play at the Newcastle Theatre Royal Studio from the 15th-17th February 2018. Perfect for a valentine's date night!

"This play has never felt more relevant, as a society it's so important to normalise sexualities and our experiences. For people to feel safe to share the good, the bad and the ugly. People are often ashamed or embarrassed of their first times, and although we aren't forcing the audience to share their stories there is some audience participation that really makes each show more personal to the audience that is there each night. I've always been drawn to honest plays and it's been a pleasure working with the cast to truthfully portray these stories with the respect they deserve." Said Virginia Riddell, Creative Director for Aureum Productions and the Director of My First Time.

Writer of 'My First Time' and Tony award winning Broadway Producer Ken Davenport said "First sexual experiences are one of the few things that almost every single person on this planet, has in common . . . no matter where you live, what you do for a living, etc. Most likely at some point in your life, you're going to have sex. At the same time, first sexual experiences are something we rarely talk about. Maybe they were awkward, downright funny, or maybe even something we're afraid to talk about. Never before has there been a more important time to shine a spotlight on this pivotal event in our lives . . . because things always get better when we talk about them." Ken has been a positive feature in producing this play and has been only an email away providing further explanations on the script and advising on how the original play was produced.

My First Time is Aureum Productions' long-awaited debut into the theatre circuit. Based in the North East of England our aim is to use our different specialties and styles to produce innovative and entertaining productions; ranging from theatrical performances to immersive experiences. We want to create new pieces of work showcasing the talent of northern artists as well as being open to performing works by established playwrights of the past and present.
