Aria Entertainment's From Page To Stage opens for submissions today (28/11/16) for its 2017 Summer Festival of new musicals - and for the first time it will welcome new musical submissions from across the globe, plus, of course, home-grown! Closing date for submissions is Tuesday 28 February 2017.
Fast becoming the world's leading new musical theatre Summer Festival, From Page To Stage (FPTS) moves to their new home at Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Other Palace, London's newest venue for musicals. For three weeks (Monday 14 August - Sunday 3 September 2017) The Other Palace will be bursting at the seams 24/7 with the sound of new musicals, as over 20 shows will be showcased, and performed by top West End performers, directors, musicians, musical directors & choreographers. From one fully produced musical production in the theatre to workshops, semi-staged performances and extracts in the theatre and studio; plus readings and songs in the bar - there'll even be pop-up talent performing new songs from new musicals in the box office and foyer!
The new pretender to the throne of musical theatre, young producer Katy Lipson (31) of Aria Entertainment's From Page To Stage says: "FPTS are on the lookout for submissions from every musical genre as well as varying themes and subject matter. Musical theatre is a universal language with musicals produced worldwide. We want new voices and writers - commercial but also innovative new work. We want FPTS Summer Festival 2017 to be as diverse and inclusive as possible - just no juke box musicals please!"
Even if your musical is unfinished, do submit - as FPTS Summer Festival 2017 will be showcasing each step of how a new musical is developed. Entrants need to include their show title, composer/lyricist/book writer, short synopsis and three recorded tracks from the show (see website for full details www.frompage2stage.com.) 2016 saw over 200 submissions, and by opening up submissions to the world, FPTS hope to break this record. Each show will be fully assessed by FPTS's expert team and the 50 shortlisted submissions will each receive a short constructive critique from FPTS. In May 2017, FPTS will announce the 20 selected new musicals they will produce in their Summer Festival at The Other Palace.
Aria Entertainment's From Page To Stage - ground breaking new musicals that will be heard by musical industry names and audiences across the world, at the start of their musical theatre life.
