What do stand-up, being a proud father, therapy and adoption have in common? They're all different ways of feeling good about yourself. But what happens if this is not enough? Between Us is a darkly comic glimpse into the way we live now that asks how we have allowed it to come to this...
Sarah Daniels is a critically acclaimed British dramatist who for over 20 years has been at the forefront of feminist playwriting for both the stage and radio. Her first play Ripen Our Darkness was staged at the Royal Court in 1981, where many of her subsequent plays have premiered includingMasterpieces, The Devil's Gateway, Byrthrite, Beside Herself and The Madness of Esme and Shaz. Other plays include Neaptide and Dust, both at the National Theatre, The Gut Girls at Albany Empire, Deptford and Flying Under Bridges at Watford Palace Theatre. Sarah has had two collections of her plays published by Methuen.
Between Us will be directed by John Burgess, co-founder of the National Theatre Studio and Head of New Writing at the National Theatre from 1989-1994. John has worked as a director at theRoyal Court Theatre, Riverside Studios, The Bush Theatre, in the West End and for fourteen years at the National Theatre where his productions include Serjeant Musgrave's Dance, Antigone, The Prince of Homburg as well as many new plays.
Charlotte Cornwell will play the role of 'Julia'. Charlotte first came to prominence in 1975, landing a lead role in the BAFTA award winning series Rock Follies prior to joining the Royal Shakespeare Company where credits included Henry Vl Part 1, As You Like It and Much Ado About Nothing. In 1984 Charlotte joined the National Theatre Company where credits included Wild Honeyopposite Ian McKellen, The Road To Mecca, Futurists with Daniel Day-Lewis, Richard lll, Lady In The Dark and An Enemy of The People. In 2000 Charlotte moved to Los Angeles where her stage work included History Boys and A Little Night Music, as well as television guest appearances in The West Wing. In 2012 Charlotte then returned to the RSC to appear in Hamlet and All's Well That End's Well.
Georgina Rich will play the roles of 'Teresa/Kath'. Georgina's varied theatre credits include originating the role of Baby Houseman in Dirty Dancing at the Aldwych Theatre, Much Ado About Nothing directed by Josie Rourke at Sheffield Crucible, Portia in The Merchant of Venice for the Royal Shakespeare Company and Rosalind in As You Like It at the Rose Theatre. Television credits includeSherlock, New Tricks, Spooks and Waking The Dead.
