All-Male Comedy Ballet Company The Trocks Tour the UK and Ireland Image The countdown begins until Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo (affectionately known as The Trocks), the multi-award winning all-male, comedy ballet company, returns to the UK and receives its Ireland premiere this autumn during an eight-week, twelve-venue tour beginning at The Peacock in London on 11 September and concluding at Grand Opera House in Belfast on 3 November.

For 44 years, The Trocks have been delighting audiences of all ages at sell-out performances featuring their fabulous sense of fun and their flawless dance.

Hailing from New York City, the company is loved worldwide for their sassy spoofs and hilarious homages to classical ballet and modern dance, where each of the 18 dancers transform into two personas, both male and female.

Every performance frivolously froths with tutus and testosterone, blush-pink ballet pumps, fierce fake eyelashes and hyperbolic prima ballerina attitudes; however, what makes this company extraordinarily special is their immaculate dance technique and daring physicality, surpassed only by their unmatchable comic timing.

During their incredible history, The Trocks have performed in over 600 cities in 38 countries. Following their last UK tour in 2015, The Trocks were nominated for an Outstanding Company Award at the Critics' Circle National Dance Awards (2016, UK) alongside Bolshoi Ballet, English National Ballet, Northern Ballet and Scottish Ballet. The 2018 engagement marks the company's fifteenth visit to the UK and first time in Ireland and follows extensive tours across the USA, Japan and Europe.

The tour includes five audio-described performances for blind and visually-impaired patrons. Each audio-described performance features a Touch Tour and an opportunity to meet members of the company. Dance Consortium is working with Sightlines Audio Description Services to deliver the audio-described performances in London, Newcastle, Cardiff, Nottingham and Belfast.

In addition to the live performances, screenings of Rebels on Pointe, a film by Bobbi Jo Hart and starring The Trocks will be shown in advance of and during the stage tour. Exploring universal themes of identity, dreams, family, loss and love, Rebels on Pointe is the first-ever feature documentary celebrating the company. The film juxtaposes behind-the-scenes access, rich archives and history, intimate character-driven stories and dance performances shot in North America, Japan and Europe, including the UK tour in 2015. Rebels on Pointe is a creative blend of gender, diversity, passion and purpose. A story which ultimately proves that a ballerina is not only a woman dancing - but an act of rebellion in a tutu.

Screenings of Rebels on Pointe can be seen in Belfast, Nottingham, Buxton, Edinburgh and Inverness.
