Following a highly successful launch at The Lion & Unicorn last year, Amplified Theatre brings its unique new writing event Six to The Bunker. Here it will present six short plays written by six emerging writers, inspired by six songs, donated by six musicians.
Featuring work by Rekha Jon-Cheriyan, Neil Gray, Harry Ter Haar, Tori Allen Martin, Felix O'Brien and Tom Wentworth.
Inspired by the music of Branco, Jamie West and the Banished Poets, Jimmy and the Wolf, John Kelly, Nadine Wild Palmer and SuRie.
Directed by Stephen Collins, Jack Kelly, Stephen Lloyd, Niall Philips, Hannah Sharkey and Charlie Toko.
Each writer has been given a song, donated by a musician, to inspire their short play. All performances will be fully captioned for deaf and hard of hearing audiences, making Six the first piece of theatre to use these technologies in the venue.
Six was conceived by Stephen Lloyd, founder and artistic director of Amplified Theatre, an inclusive Production Company that focuses on merging live theatre with alternative music genres.
Jenny Draper, Artistic Director of Fingermith's said, "It's a great concept. Loved it. Brilliantly acted and directed by a properly diverse cast. Bravo team Amplified Theatre."
Plays featured in the event include The State of Things by Tori Allen Martin inspired by the song 'Poor Man' by Jimmy and the Wolf, Empty by Rekha John-Cheriyan inspired by the song 'Empty' by SuRie and The Journey by Neil Gray inspired by the song 'DNA' by Branco.
Follow Amplified Theatre on Twitter @AmplifiedTheatr for further announcements and links to the songs that have inspired the plays.
Six runs at The Bunker at 7.30pm on Sunday 30th April and Sunday 7th May, presenting all six plays on both dates.
