Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG), the world's number one live theatre company, has appointed leading UK theatre executive Stuart Griffiths in the new role of Programming Director as the company continues its UK and international expansion.
Griffiths joins the company full time in July 2015 and will work with Michael Lynas, ATG's Managing Director (Content), to deliver top quality productions to the group's 39 venues.
Griffiths' distinguished career in regional theatre management has included twelve years as Chief Executive of the Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre Trust and, prior to that, ten years as Chief Executive of the Swan Theatre, High Wycombe. He is Chair of UK touring producer Music and Lyrics and of international dance promoter the Dance Consortium. He is a Council member of Arts Council Midlands. He was awarded an OBE in the 2015 New Year's Honours for services to the arts in Birmingham.
Griffiths said "I am sorry to be leaving Birmingham after twelve wonderful years at the Hippodrome but delighted to be joining ATG at such an exciting time in its development. Delivering outstanding productions to its audiences is at the heart of ATG's success. I look forward to working with the group's dedicated and experienced programming team."
Lynas said "This newly created post is crucial to the development of ATG's UK programming strategy. Bringing the very best shows to our theatres is our top priority and Stuart's knowledge and experience will help us achieve that goal as the company continues to expand."
